Every year, tens of thousands of people cross borders to call Sweden home — and tens of thousands of Swedes move abroad. This globe maps those flows in three dimensions: cyan arcs pour inward from the world’s most significant source countries; orange arcs trace the paths Swedes take when they leave.

Notes on the data
All figures are approximate, sourced from Statistics Sweden (SCB) annual migration statistics and Eurostat bilateral migration tables. Immigration = persons registering in Sweden’s population register by country of birth. Emigration = Swedish residents deregistering, by destination country. Some 2022–2023 figures are trend-estimated where granular SCB table data was not available at time of publication.
